UPL-IPL systems are laser systems that emit light in a wide spectrum (500-1200 nm) wavelength. Thanks to the filters integrated into these devices, different vascular lesions such as port wine stains, hemangiomas, diffuse facial telangiectasia, and Civatte's poikiloderma can be treated by obtaining the appropriate wavelength for the target vein and skin type.
Although UPL-IPL systems do not target hemoglobin in blood cells as well as PDL, they are quite effective in the treatment of redness and telangiectasias (capillaries). Today, these systems are mostly used in the treatment of widespread redness and telangiectasias (capillaries) on the face or upper chest. In addition, since the spot width is large, it treats large areas in a short time, the recovery time after treatment is short (usually 48 hours) and the treatment is well tolerated.

Another disadvantage is that the treated area does not have the chance to be observed simultaneously, since they require contact cooling systems for epidermal protection. Apart from this, it has a higher risk compared to PDL and requires a longer time for treatment. External cooling systems can also be used (such as contact cooling with ice cubes, cryogen spray).
Redness develops after treatment with IPL, the risk of developing edema and spotting is low, and no flaking is observed.
